Brief 02, Evaluation

The brief - To complete a piece of artwork/design each day for 100 days. Each week a new style/technique/design form must be experimented with and documented through Instagram.

After completing 100 pieces and posting them on Instagram, I am able to reflect on the project. This brief has allowed me to engage with a number of different individuals on the social media platform. Creatives such as Buttercrumble have followed me throughout this progress and have commented with their support. I have also gained exposure through other creatives/businesses sharing my posts. This has increased the exposure that my account has and also means my work reaches a wider audience.

Although the aim was to create a piece of artwork each day, this raised its own challenges due to personal commitments. As a result of this, some posts were created ahead of time. This goes against the brief and motivations behind the project, however it did highlight the importance of scheduling work alongside private life. This highlighted the importance of having a work and life balance in my career direction. To perform to at my best creatively, I need time to relax and do my own thing. When searching for a job it is important that the role would allow me time to do this.

As a result of using Adobe Illustrator, After Effects and gouache painting I have developed a diverse practice. My skills with shortcuts and utilising the features that the Adobe programmes offer have bettered through the continuation of this brief. This will result in my creative practice being more efficient in the future as well as having a number of different skills that could be required in a future job.
